Then The Day Came

Set in the aftermath of environmental flooding affecting the UK, the piece explores how we continue to create meaningful human connection in a shifting world facing environmental change.
The story centres around a soon to be demolished tower block. The play is set the night before the building will be secured and cleared in order in begin the demolition process.
The project received Arts Council funding to allow a period of Research & Development at the National Theatre Studio and Northern Stage in 2023/4. This has allowed us to build the core creative team and clarify narrative structure and themes of the piece.
We are continuing to develop the project with the National Theatre Studio, New Writing North, Goethe Institut and with dramaturgy and support from Nils Haarmann, Schaubühne Berlin.
The next period of development will take place in February 2025 supported by the Goethe Institut, London.
