Four Sordid Rooms in Chelsea

Created by Peter Groom and Keith Ramsay.
‘I used to have a girlfriend known as Elsie, with whom I shared four sordid rooms in Chelsea. She wasn’t what you’d call a blushing flower, as a matter of fact...’
Christopher Isherwood created the character of Sally Bowles, inspired by his friend Jean Ross. The play imagines what role Jean herself, among others, had in the creation of Sally Bowles; exploring themes of emancipation, transformation and becoming.
